iTs|SC Announces Graduation of 2018 Leadership Insurance Class
iTs|SC, Columbia’s Insurance Technology & Services Cluster, is pleased to announce the graduation of the 2018 Class of Leadership Insurance.
Leadership Insurance exists to develop the local insurance and technology industry’s next generation of up-and-coming company and community leaders by introducing graduates to the high-level strategic challenges faced in the industry. Facilitated by top regional experts, participants in the 8-month program learn about all facets of the insurance industry’s present and future challenges, while developing leadership skills and meaningful connections between companies.
The class of 13 included employees from BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Capgemini, Duck Creek Technologies, Seibels and City of Columbia Economic Development. The class’s group project provided over 60 students at Fairfield Middle School a glimpse into future insurance and technology career options, increasing interest in the industry by over 400% among surveyed students.
Columbia has one of the nation’s highest concentrations of companies and employment in insurance and related technologies, with over 50 companies in the sector in Richland and Lexington Counties alone. The industry’s long history of innovation and entrepreneurship has created an economic backbone for the region, with an economic impact in the billions of dollars and employment in the tens of thousands.
